Around 90 lakh houses sanctioned under PMAY-U are ready for construction while more than 50 lakh houses have already been completed and handed over to beneficiaries. The Secretary of MoHUA, Mr. Mishra asked the representative officials of all states/UTs to execute faster construction of the sanctioned houses and asked the states/UTs to focus on grounding and completion of the grounded houses, the saturation of demand has to be declared by representatives after completion of the sanctioned houses.

The central government of India is pushing for faster expedition of the construction of sanctioned houses under the PMAY-U scheme so that the beneficiaries receive their promised houses and can progress towards living better lives. The PMAY-U scheme has sanctioned construction of houses in all states and Union Territories of India. The Andhra Pradesh government is also implementing its own affordable housing schemes for the economically weaker sections of the society, which combined with the houses being built under PMAY-U scheme will mean less number of the economically weaker sections of society will spend nights without a roof over their heads.
