KTR Urges Central Govt. to Reopen CCI Plant in Adilabad

Posted by luckypropertywala_sxyoj4 on January 6, 2022

K. T. Rama Rao, better known as KTR, the son of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao urged the central govt. to reopen the Cement Corporation of India (CCI) plant situated in Adilabad, Telangana. KTR, who is currently the Minister of Industries for Telangana, wrote letters addressed to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Union Minister for Heavy Industries Mahendra Nath Pandey requesting the central govt. to reopen the CCI unit in Adilabad as it is a feasible option which could help Telangana and its neighbouring states as construction activities are in full swing.

In his letter to the Union Ministers, KTR said he mentioned the conditions are in favour of reopening the cement manufacturing unit and observed that there are a large number of opportunities which can be helped by reopening of the CCI plant at Adilabad. The Telangana Minister of Industries, KTR stated that the CCI unit would help construction activities in Maharashtra & Andhra Pradesh if reopened. Resuming operations at CCI would mean new jobs in store for locals of Adilabad, especially the youth and also help in development of Adilabad as a raw material hub. KTR has asked the Central Govt. of India to consider reopening of the CCI unit in Adilabad on an urgent basis.

The Minister for Industries of Telangana said Telangana state and government is attracting huge investments through the TS-iPASS (Telangana State Industrial Project Approval & Self-certification System) under the current leadership of CM KCR. Telangana state is currently experiencing a real-estate boom resulting in a good track for the construction industry too, this would mean raw materials like cement, sand, iron, steel etc. will be in high demand as construction activities are ramped up in Telangana over the next few years.

KTR also mentions the fact that the demand for cement across India is very high right now and private cement manufacturers are raking in huge profits due to monopolies. Even in Andhra Pradesh, there has recently been a shortage of sand required for construction and manufacture of cement resulting in contractors having to pay absurdly high prices for essential raw material required for construction. As a result, many projects in AP have slowed down and builders are seeking help from AP govt. to resolve these issues. KTR believes reopening of CCI plants like the one in Adilabad can help in resolving such issues.

The Prime Minister of India has recently launched the Gati Shakti National Master Plan for multi-modal connectivity, this along with already existing affordable housing schemes like Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) will create a huge demand for cement as these projects kick-off into action – said KTR. He also assured that the Telangana govt. would assist and give full support to reopen the CCI unit in Adilabad. The CCI plant in Adilabad was commissioned in 1984 but manufacturing was halted in 1996 due to lack of working capital & was termed ‘sick’ as per the sanctioned scheme of Board for Industrial & Financial Reconstruction (BIFR). It remains to be seen what decision the central govt. takes and it could affect the real-estate market in and around Telangana,
