Telangana Govt. Planning to Offer 2BHK Houses to Nala Encroachers

The Telangana state government’s plan to clean & beautify the Musi river that flows through Hyderabad is facing some serious hurdles due to encroachers living on the banks of the Musi river. Many real-estate experts consider the state govt.’s plan for the Musi river as an ambitious project. Already, more than 8,500 encroachments have been identified by the Musi River Development Corporation Limited (MRDCL) & the state’s revenue department. These encroachments have to be removed for making progress and continue developmental works along the river.

Hyderabad’s civic body, GHMC (Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation) and its municipal administration department has been facing a major issue to remove more than 12,000 encroachers on the major nalas of the city. To help the plan progress faster, the state govt. and GHMC are now considering a plan to offer 2BHK residences to these encroachers at various locations. The municipal administration department’s annual report suggests that the Musi riverfront development is planned for 55km boundary demarcated by officials.

MRDCL had marked the river boundary & buffer zones of Musi river by conducting a survey using different GPS (Global Positioning System) technology. The maps have also been prepared mandal-wise with precise coordinates. The Musi river beautification work was started 3 years ago, few of the tasks like installation of floating trash barriers, trash disposal, construction of walkways, parks along the river bank have been completed so far.
